About Annie's Place .

When we first arrived in France, our plans looked quite different-but as many people discovered, life has a way of reshaping things. After Brexit and then COVID-19 pandemic, we found ourselves rethinking what we truly wanted. That's when the idea of opening a pottery painting studio began to take shape. We realized there was nothing quite like it here in the Charente—and it felt like the perfect fit.

We're a blended family, brought together when our children were still young. Like many families, we know how tricky it can be to find activities that suit everyone-especially when four children don't always see eye to eye! But pottery painting became something of a lifeline for us. My children had been doing it since they were little, often creating personalized gifts for grandparents and loved ones-something that meant so much to both the giver and the receiver.

As our family grew, we noticed something special. Pottery painting created a space where everyone could be together, but without pressure. Each child could focus on their own piece, lost in their own creativity, while still sharing the same table, the same experience. It quietly brought everyone closer.

Over the past 20 years, we've created countless memories through pottery painting-many of which we still use and treasure today. Some pieces have become even more meaningful with time. Loved ones who are no longer with us had held onto those handmade gifts, and now they've found their way back to us, filled with memories and love.

Even now, pottery painting continues to be part of our family story. Our grown-up children still go along with friends (and, I'm very proud to say, even the occasional date night!), and now our grandchildren are beginning their own creative journeys too. It's something that spans generations-and that feels really special.

And as for the name “Annie’s Place”? That part was easy. It's named after Annie Boobles Wilson-our cat, our quiet supervisor, and quite frankly, the real boss of the studio. She's never far away, always keeping a watchful eye on everything that's going on.

So that's a little bit about us. Annie and I can't wait to welcome you-whether you're coming along on your own for a peaceful moment of creativity, or joining us with family, friends, or even for a date-here at Annie's Place.
